About Course

In this fun and engaging course, students in grade 1 and 2 will explore the world of structures and buildings through drawing, sketching, and coloring. Using age-appropriate techniques, students will learn how to observe and recreate forms such as houses, bridges, towers, and castles — all while developing essential fine motor and visual-spatial skills. The focus is on structured creativity, where imagination meets design and foundational art principles are introduced in a fun, supportive environment.


What to Expect

  • Each class includes a 30-minute demonstration followed by 30minutes of hands-on classroom exercises

  • Weekly guided art projects focused on drawing and coloring different types of structures (e.g., houses, schools, bridges, castles).

  • Introduction to basic shapes, lines, symmetry, and proportions in architecture.

  • Use of reference images and step-by-step instruction to help build confidence and consistency.

  • Opportunity for students to add creative touches to their work while following structure-based guidelines.

  • Group sharing and discussion to help students talk about their process and appreciate others’ work.

  • A balance of guided instruction and independent art time.


Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students will:

  • Understand and identify basic structural forms in buildings and environments.

  • Gain confidence in sketching with purpose, using simple lines and shapes to create complex forms.

  • Develop an eye for details, balance, and spatial awareness in artwork.

Materials Needed:

  • Drawing paper or a sketchbook

  • Pencils

  • Eraser

  • Ruler (for straight lines and structure work)

  • Colored pencils or crayons

  • Black fine-tip marker or pen (for outlining)
