About Course

This course introduces students in grades 3 and 4 to the exciting world of sketching using pencils and colored pencils. Through fun and guided lessons, students will learn basic sketching skills focused on foundational techniques like shading, textures, and tones. With an emphasis on still life subjects, this class helps young artists build confidence and creativity while developing essential drawing abilities that will support their future artistic growth.


What to Expect

  • Each class includes a 45-minute demonstration followed by 45 minutes of hands-on classroom exercises

  • Homework exercises to practice and reinforce new skills at home

  • Focus on Foundation Still Life Sketching, introducing students to basic shapes and objects for observation and drawing

  • Lessons in key art techniques such as creating different tones, applying textures, and working with pencils and colored pencils

  • A supportive and encouraging environment to help students explore their creativity and develop their unique drawing style


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand and apply basic sketching techniques using pencils and colored pencils

  • Create varied tones and textures to add depth and interest to their drawings

  • Observe and draw simple still life objects with increased accuracy and confidence

  • Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B recommended)

  • Colored pencils

  • Sketchbook

  • Eraser

  • Sharpener

  • Ruler (for drawing guidelines and proportions)
