Level 5 & 6 – Painting and Portfolio Building
About Course
This course is designed for students in grades 5 to 8 who want to deepen their painting skills while beginning to build a strong, creative portfolio. Students will explore various painting techniques, styles, and media as they work on thoughtful, high-quality pieces that showcase their personal artistic voice. Alongside guided lessons, students will learn how to select and present their best work, helping them develop a portfolio they can be proud of.
Portfolio building not only celebrates each student’s progress and creativity, but also prepares them for future opportunities—whether applying to specialized art programs, schools, or even creative careers. A well-crafted portfolio helps students stand out by highlighting their technical skill, originality, and dedication to the arts.

What to Expect
- Weekly sessions include a 60-minute guided demonstration followed by 30 minutes of in-classroom exercises

Projects designed to explore still life, surface textures, and distance perspectives, helping students create visually compelling pieces for their personal portfolio

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Materials Needed
Students are welcome to use any painting materials they prefer or have on hand. Additionally, a materials book is required for note-taking, sketching, and organizing ideas throughout the course.
