Level 2 – Structured Art
About Course
In this fun and engaging course, students in grade 1 and 2 will explore the world of structures and buildings through drawing, sketching, and coloring. Using age-appropriate techniques, students will learn how to observe and recreate forms such as houses, bridges, towers, and castles — all while developing essential fine motor and visual-spatial skills. The focus is on structured creativity, where imagination meets design and foundational art principles are introduced in a fun, supportive environment.
What to Expect
Each class includes a 30-minute demonstration followed by 30minutes of hands-on classroom exercises
Weekly guided art projects focused on drawing and coloring different types of structures (e.g., houses, schools, bridges, castles).
Introduction to basic shapes, lines, symmetry, and proportions in architecture.
Use of reference images and step-by-step instruction to help build confidence and consistency.
Opportunity for students to add creative touches to their work while following structure-based guidelines.
Group sharing and discussion to help students talk about their process and appreciate others’ work.
A balance of guided instruction and independent art time.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:
Understand and identify basic structural forms in buildings and environments.
Gain confidence in sketching with purpose, using simple lines and shapes to create complex forms.
Develop an eye for details, balance, and spatial awareness in artwork.
Improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through consistent drawing and coloring practice.
Build patience, focus, and pride in completing multi-step art projects.
Materials Needed:
Drawing paper or a sketchbook
Pencils
Eraser
Ruler (for straight lines and structure work)
Colored pencils or crayons
Black fine-tip marker or pen (for outlining)
